Directed by one of the most prolific filmmakers of our time,Woody Allen. The film was made in 1985 but is set in the times of the Great Depression. In 1930s New Jersey, a movie character walks off the screen and into the real world. 'The Purple Rose of Cairo' is a wonderful juxtaposition of fact and fiction, of the real and the surreal.
